For Josh Brussell, this music has never just been songs—it’s been a way of life.
Since the release of Brushfire Fairytales, Josh has been deeply connected to the sound, spirit, and lifestyle that Jack Johnson created. More than just influencing his musical style, Jack’s music helped shape a culture—one rooted in simplicity, connection, and finding meaning in the moment.
Being just nine months apart in age, Josh has grown alongside that music in real time, giving him a unique and personal perspective on it. The rest of the band came to Jack’s music through Sleep Through the Static, discovering it later but with just as much impact—bringing their own perspective and energy to the sound.
Together, they form East Coast Ohana: A Better Together Band, blending those shared and individual experiences into something that feels both authentic and fresh. Their goal isn’t just to play the music—it’s to recreate the feeling that Jack Johnson’s songs have given them over the years and share it with a new community.
